gravy to eat, naps to conquer

In the wake of my third half marathon (one more time!), here are some running tidbits:

squid! and poem

If I were a squid
Ten legs I would bid
To have instead of eight

A wizard hat on my head
To fill enemies with dread
And a smile
wide and long
full of guile.

space – it is nice

Watching the Overview Effect reminds me of my favorite TS Elliot quote:
We shall not cease from exploration,
and the end of all our exploring
will be to arrive where we started
and know the place for the first time.

breakfast = painting, panic and inspiration

Lately I’ve been whiling away my breakfasts painting over an old sketch (posted earlier), listening to some silly alternative rock pop, and discovering these amazing illustrated quotes by Gavin Aung Than.

Garden therapy, and a boat

Gardening is the most therapeutic and defiant act you can do, especially in the inner city. Plus you get strawberries.
– said Ron Finley in this sweet TED talk

fanatically* feminist friday

Once upon a time, N64 was developing a time-traveling, dinosaur-fighting adventure game with a… with a female lead character?
Named Krystal.

Close to release, the whole thing was sacked, and Krystal became a sideshow in a Star Fox game.

. . .

I now turn to cubism and an old sketch to explore my emotions over this news.

Paris, 2009. Picasso museum courtyard.

*for the sake of alliteration. Also considered were: flammably, factually, French, and friendly feminist Friday.
